The Art of Indian Asia: Its Mythology and Transformation, 2 Vols

by

Heinrich Robert Zimmer,

Joseph Campbell (Editor)

GCA Library boosts of its collection in the field of art. One of the gems is the Book mentioned above. Popularly known as “Zimmer” only. This two-volume work, published in 1955, a unique product of scholarship and photography, presents a view of Indian Art. It is believed to be the most comprehensive ever undertaken work on Indian art. Its text volume approaches the subject in close detail and in a rapidly moving and entertaining form of exposition. The second volume contains the plates (photographs). A browse through the book takes the reader to the journey of art in Indian Asia in a beautiful manner. No need to rush to the library for this book. To your pleasant surprise this book in pdf form is available here.

Enjoy the beautiful volumes of Indian Art.

Pathway for BFA aspirants

SHODHGANGA

दरिया की ज़िन्दगी पर, सदके हजार जानें,
मुझको नहीं गवारा, साहिल की मौत मरना।
-जिगर मुरादाबादी

For researchers and master’s students who want to pursue Ph.D

Students are not free at mind in this pandemic era, especially the master’s students and researchers.  They wanted to best utilize their time and continue with their studies. A good number of students approached me with an enthusiastic mind to find out the topic or area of research they should go for. Deciding a research topic/area for research is a complicated pursuit. A good listener can be a good speaker, the same way a good reader can be a good writer. So, it is suggested for every researcher or a master’s student that they should read before reaching a topic/area of their research.

Shodhganga: a reservoir of Indian theses is a digital repository of theses and dissertations submitted to Indian universities. The complete theses in pdf format are available (Chapter wise). This can be searched by university/researcher/guide/title/keyword. The link for this has been provided under “Useful links”.

Happy Reading and Searching

Best wishes to the Researchers
